History
Herbert Schauer senior is born the son of a farming family in 1918.
Together with his wife Maria, who handles the bookkeeping, he founds the company Schauer in 1949. To begin with the company repairs motorcycles, farm machinery and various pieces of equipment. This is followed by the conversion of wood gas tractors and American trucks for petroleum engines. The company employs four people.
From 1953 new plots of land have to be acquired continuously for the expansion of storage and production facilities. It is interesting to note that marketing activities begin as early as 1961 with the company taking part in the Rieder Messe for the first time. The presentation of Schauer products and services remains to this day the most important marketing activity. In 1964 the ever growing company has over 1,700m² of building premises and 40 employees in total.
1955/66: The design, development and patent registration of the first hydraulic manure removal system by Schauer senior is a key milestone in the history of the company. The high demand for these products leads to further investments and in 1971 the workforce increases to 63, including 3 specialists. Besides the hydraulic manure removal systems ? which remain state-of-the-art to this day, requiring virtually no technical modifications ? the company also produces hot galvanized pig and cattle housing systems and conveyor belts.
In 1972 Gerhard Vogl starts up a department for the development and engineering of hardware and software for computer-controlled feeding systems. This sees the relentless pioneering spirit of the Schauer company coupled with the very latest technological possibilities.
1987 marks a generation changeover with Herbert Schauer junior, Helga Vogl and Gerhard Vogl taking on management responsibilities.
The fields of responsibility of the new management team are clearly defined: managing partner Herbert Schauer junior continues with export expansion and marketing activities are stepped up as well. The German subsidiary is founded and the company attends key international trade fairs. Helga Vogl is responsible for finance management. Her keen eye for figures is a decisive factor in the continuous growth and financial stability of the company. In addition to market leadership in Austria, the well-timed export orientation proves to be extremely important in the development of the company.In 1999 -50 years after the founding of the company - the company has 280 employees in total, together with three distribution locations (Switzerland, Germany and Slovakia). Quality housing products for cattle, pigs and horses are manufactured on some 13,500 m² of production floor space and sold throughout the world. Today, Schauer has 350 employees in total and, when it comes to competent planning, reliable service, top product quality and superior progress, the company is "ALWAYS ONE IDEA AHEAD".
June 2009 is Schauer's 60 year anniversary.
